The Middlesex Magic enters its 31st season in the spring of 2024, and is one of the most respected AAU/grassroots basketball clubs in New England and in the Country. The Middlesex Magic was founded in 1993 by the late Michael Crotty Sr., and currently directed by his son, Michael Crotty Jr.

The goals of the Middlesex Magic are simple: work hard, have fun and get better. We have a plethora of talented coaches on our staff with experience at high school, college, and the NBA level. We practice multiple times a week to help our players develop better skills, while stressing the importance of team work and consistent, excellent effort. Middlesex Magic teams participate in the top level grassroots basketball tournaments regionally and nationally.

High School Teams

At the high school level we have multiple teams at each age group, and the depth of our coaching staff allows us to help many players along multiple teams. The Middlesex Magic team depth at the high school level is extremely strong. In the 31 year history our program has helped over 550 student-athletes realize their dream of playing college basketball! Our goal is to assist and guide each player in the recruiting process, with the top priority being that each student-athlete finds the best academic and athletic fit for a College or University. In the last five years the Magic have averaged over 30 players per year matriculating to play college basketball. Players from all 11th grade teams are provided the platform to play in front of college coaches and gain recruitment to play at the next level. In the summer of 2018, the Middlesex Magic Junior Boys team was 21-1 and won championships at 3 prestigious national tournaments: The Hoop Group Showcase League Championship, the NERR Big Apple Showcase and the ZG Orlando Prime Event.  On the season the team was 46-5 and won 6 major championships. Our players get better throughout the season, and our teams grow together through chemistry built in practice and during our participation against top-level competition. The Middlesex Magic junior boys captured the 2017, 2018 and 2019 Hoop Group Showcase League Championships, and our 16u/Sophomores won the 2023 HGSL title!

In 2022 the Middlesex Magic became one of only 24 programs in UAS/Canada to be offered a spot on the prestigious Under Armour Association. In two years the 17u/11th grade team is 31-7 winning the 2022 Spring Championship as well as becoming the overall 2023 Under Armour Champions! The Middlesex Magic defeated the Illinois Wolves, Breakaway basketball, Team Thrill (MD) and Canada Elite to capture one of the most prestigious grassroots championships in the world!

Middle School Teams

At the middle school teams level we have some of the most experienced coaches in the program, and this allows us to push our players to maximize their abilities as they approach their high school years.  Our coaches focus on individual skill development and the development of team concepts on both offense and defense. Teamwork, accountability and competitivness are traits that we teach our players in the middle school years, and our coaching staff does a remarkable job of preparing our players for high school.

Elementary School Teams

Our motto is, "Work hard, have fun and get better!" Our elementary school program is many players entry point to the game of basketball, and we want to ensure that our players get enjoyment out of their experience while also learning value fundamentals that will stick with them forever. Our coaches focus on skill development for each player, and we begin to teach our young players team concepts as they are growing in the game.

Programs

The Middlesex Magic has boys and girls teams grades 3rd-11th. We have two major seasons: the Spring and Fall. Spring tryouts are January-March (depending on grade level) and Fall tryouts are in the end of Summer/beginning of Fall.  We also have Summer teams that travel in July depending on the team, age group, etc.

Thank you,
Michael Crotty Jr., Director/Head Coach
